Tech Mahindra to run healthcare, aerospace, telecom offerings on Amazon’s managed blockchain

Technology and IT services provider Tech Mahindra is teaming up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for blockchain offerings in aerospace, telecoms, and healthcare.

The Indian company, which is an AWS Partner Network (APN) advanced consulting partner, will offer three primary solutions through the AWS Marketplace. There will be a kit management tool for aviation and aerospace, ensuring an effective track and trace process from multi-tier suppliers; a solution for OEMs in telecoms for business to consumer (B2C) supply chain, and further track and trace of fraudulent medical materials.

The latter is understandably inspired by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Ensuring continuity in supply chains through a disrupted economy remains a major priority. Tech Mahindra cited research from Tealbook’s 2020 Supplier Information Study which found more than four in five supply chain leaders were not completely confident in their supplier data.

“Global businesses are facing sustained headwinds and struggling to collectively navigate and strategise in this new, uncharted territory and facilitate business continuity in the current Covid world,” said Rajesh Dhuddu, Tech Mahindra blockchain and cybersecurity practice leader. “Ensuring supply chain continuity is paramount and needs more attention in the coming times.

“Organisations are advised to leverage technologies like blockchain to address the challenges and create a competitive advantage for themselves.”

Alongside this, the partnership will enable Tech Mahindra to assist clients in building blockchain platform as a service (BPaaS), system integration, and product engineering services, on the AWS blockchain.

Given AWS’ considerable leverage as a market leader in cloud infrastructure, Tech Mahindra will hope the partnership is fruitful. Current customers of AWS’ blockchain services – which is also considered among the leaders – include BMW Group, Nestle and Sage. The company adds that a quarter of all Ethereum workloads run on its infrastructure.

“Our collaboration with AWS will support future pandemic preparedness and accelerate an economic rebound post-Covid-19 for organisations operating global supply chains and eliminate siloes,” added Dhuddu.
