Croatian esports organisation CR4ZY has terminated contracts with all of its teams in order to “prepare for 2021.”

Contracts were terminated effective September 30th, 2020. CR4ZY says this will allow the organisation to survive another year and let players find new homes without a transfer fee.

CR4ZY said in a blog post that the COVID-19 pandemic forced its teams to play online instead of in-person which subjected them to disadvantages such as “high ping and time difference.” As tournaments continued to face cancellation, the organisation thought it best to release its players and regroup for the coming year.

“With limited travel options, tournaments regionally locked, and lower investor/partner activity we believe it is the right time to reevaluate our strategy in 2020 and do our best to prepare for 2021,” said the organisation.

As with most companies, CR4ZY began 2020 with high hopes and big plans. The organisation intended to expand into CS:GO, Dota 2, and Rainbow Six Siege, it said. In March, CR4ZY entered Dota 2 with the acquisition of Team Pandas and in June, introduced a League of Legends team that was to compete in the Summer Split of the Esports Balkan League.

“As for CR4ZY itself, we’ll reevaluate everything we’ve done so far and steer our ship towards product development and providing services we consider necessary for our future growth,” the company said. “We’re preparing some amazing stuff for 2021 and we can’t wait to share it with you.”

Esports Insider says: COVID-19 has proven time and again how connected we all are, and while the game industry experienced a boom overall, small organisations like CR4ZY are left to make hard decisions. We wish their entire roster the best of luck and hope 2021 will bring new opportunities for esports.
