DreamHack Sports Games, MTG’s sports simulation business unit, has partnered with eManager to launch a FIFA esports fantasy game, in which fans create a ‘dream team’ from eSuperliga players.

The fantasy game will be accessible via eManager’s platform and allows eSuperliga fans to compete for ‘sponsor prizes’ during the upcoming FIFA competition, which commences on November 3rd.

Fans will select five players from the eSuperliga, with the competitor’s performances reflecting on the team’s overall score.

Mark Bjørk, COO of DreamHack Sports Games commented on the news via a release: “Our vision is to transform traditional sports IP into esports, and through this collaboration with eManager, we once again prove that the elements that surround traditional football also work with their esports counterpart, eFootball.

“With limited opportunities to bring spectators as a result of the coronavirus, we have to find new ways for the fans to engage with the eSuperliga. Collaborations like this with eManager are a great example of how we can facilitate this, while simultaneously providing our partners with additional digital activation opportunities to interact with the fans in a meaningful way.”

The eSuperliga is entering into its fifth season and features FIFA teams from 15 major football clubs in Demark, including the likes of Brøndby IF, FC Midtjylland and F.C. Copenhagen. The teams will once again be battling it out to claim part of the $50,000 prize pool, whilst the competition will also be aired on Danish channel TV3 Max and streaming platform Viaplay.

Rasmus Madsen, CEO of eManager discussed the positive response regarding the new fantasy platform: “On top of breaking the record for most teams created within 24 hours, the feedback we have gotten from the fans has been overwhelming.”

Esports Insider says: DreamHack and eManager partnership is certainly a unique collaboration in the esports landscape. Whilst the ‘fantasy’ sector is prominent in traditional sports, it has yet to take off in esports, however, the new game will provide fans of eSuperliga with greater engagement opportunities. Moreover, if successful there is a possibility that more product like this could start being developed in the future.
