Esports tournament organiser PGL has announced it will host the Singapore DOTA 2 Major, the first Major of the 2021 DOTA Pro Circuit (DPC) season.
The offline event, scheduled to take place between March 27th and April 4th, will be the first Major to occur since January 2020.

The Singapore Major will be organised alongside ONE Championship’s esports subsidiary ONE Esports and the Singapore Tourism Board. ONE Esports was set to hold the Singapore Major in 2020 before it was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL, commented on the news in a release: “We are pleased to come back to Singapore for another great tournament after the Dota 2 Singapore Invitational 2019. PGL is honoured to present the first Major of Winter 21 DPC, which will occur in one of the safest places possible – Singapore.
“After running The Manila Major and The Kuala Lumpur Major, we are now returning with another memorable event in Southeast Asia. We are committed to this region with a strategic partnership with Singapore’s primary trade association for esports; the Singapore Games Association (SGGA), and we are more than happy to run great events for SEA and Dota 2 over and over again.”

The Singapore Major will feature 18 of the best teams in the world battle it out for the lion’s share of $500,000 (£364,902) in prize money
2021 is set to be a busy year for PGL. In January, it revealed that it would be hosting the first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major following a two-year break.
Esports Insider says: As the ever-evolving situation surrounding the pandemic continues to improve in some regions, such as Singapore, the return of major esports events is certainly exciting. Having hosted two DOTA 2 Majors in previous years, PGL is a solid choice to host the event.
