Teams will compete in Riot Games’ League of Legends and Teamfight Tactics, as well as Supercell’s Clash Royale. Amazon University Esports plans to introduce additional European countries in future seasons, along with an expanded slate of tournaments and events.
Jose Parilla Perez, Founder and CEO of GGTech Entertainment, said in a release: “Amazon University Esports will bring new, exciting opportunities for students in the UK and across Europe. The scale of the project will allow more students to participate in university esports and attract a larger audience to support the next generation of talent in the industry.”

GGTech will oversee the Spanish competition, and Amazon University Esports will be based out of GGTech’s headquarters at Distrito Digital in Alicante, Spain. The Amazon University Esports program will also be aligned with the Twitch Student Program, which helps promote collegiate esports initiatives.
Josh Williams, founder and Managing Director of The NUEL, commented: “We’re incredibly excited about working with GGTech and Amazon to grow the student esports community across Europe. Working together, we will have the scale and resources to provide more pathways for students to get into esports and have great experiences. We’re looking forward to developing this partnership over the coming months and years.”
Esports Insider says: This sounds like a big win for collegiate esports in Europe, with Amazon teaming with established organisers to help generate more attention around university-level play.
