Beginning this year, Das kann Bank’s scholarship will enable “young LoL talents to develop their passion in a targeted and professional manner.” The scholarship was devised as “talent promotion is still an essential goal of the Prime League.”

In addition to the scholarship, Das kann Dank will activate its partnership with Prime League both online and offline in an effort to position itself as a financial service provider to the League of Legends community. Such activations have not been detailed at the time of writing.

Prime League is an evolution of the Premier Tour, a competition that caters to German-speaking players across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The league is a result of a partnership between  Riot Games, Freaks 4U Gaming, and Lagardère Sports.

In addition to Das kann Bank, Prime League is partnered with BARMER, RECARO, NicNac’s, Tchibo, Rockstar, Deutsche Telekom, and R+V Verischerung.

Esports Insider says: Banks have been getting more and more involved in esports in the past year or so, suggesting that the predominantly-young audience that the industry caters to is desirable for such a sector. The scholarship sounds like a good idea but it’s hard to judge the partnership in its entirety without knowing the other activations involved in the deal.
